Design circle Fundraiser capsule

fundraising for Lower Eastside Girls Club

The capsule collection exhibited for Design Circle, a philanthropic design collective, to raise money and awareness for local organizations bringing resources and aid to women and girls. I chose the Lower Eastside Girls Club as one of the beneficiaries of this fundraiser.

In this capsule, I reflect on the young woman’s visualization of adulthood and success as she looks to her mentors and role models.  During this exercise, she envisions the her future self as a disciplined and refined leader who yields her power with tenderness and compassion. Single distinguishing features on classic shapes such as the trench, trouser, and sheath invites the viewer to consider the nuances and possibilities of feminine authority.

Lower Eastside Girls Club

Nurturing girls and young women is vital to our society’s health and future, and organizations like Lower Eastside Girls Club (LESGC) make it their responsibility by offering a safe haven with programs in the arts, sciences, leadership, entrepreneurship, and wellness for girls in their community at no cost to them and their families.  LESGC aims to break the cycle of local poverty by training the next generation of ethical, entrepreneurial and environmental leaders.
